Corners of my house

S P R I N G ! ! !  It's been a rainy season and everything is my favorite green!  Green is quite possible my third neutral that I love to decorate with.  Whether it be flowers, plants, a vase, a jar, a  color scheme. It's my lure.  And white seems to be my homes muse.  I find it tranquil. So black, white & green you will find it here. .

summer travel

Ready! Set! GO!

Just ordered these cuties for a trip this summer!  Premature?  Excited?  Indeed!

Half the fun in the trip is getting ready for the trip and that to me means buying a few new travel essentials.  I just LOVE a reason to buy something new.  I am a easy t-shirt kind of gal but I appreciate the classic and modern edge of a more tailored grown up look.  Remember, these pieces have to come back to reality with me after the vacation. 50% of that is laundry and doing a lot of gritty tasks.

I am amping up to be a smart packer and utilize only one suit case for two weeks worth of travel.  Who knows what summer weather will bring, we have moutians to climb, castles and museums to peruse and cafes to sit and enjoy those roses. The plan is head to Europe with friends.. Four countries one I have never stepped foot on.  PAR-TAY!!! So a dress, skirt and a few staples to get me too and fro along the pebblestones and over the moutains we go!

More of my packing list includes these treats, maybe some sandals, a scarf and light jacket?  All I know is time is of the essence and summer vacation for momma and pappa can't come soon enough!

We moved in!

We have occupied our home!  At the end of September 2014 we moved into our home finally and our son breaks his arm at his very own birthday bash. You'd never know by the photo below what a bummer that was.  We roll with the punches.

I wanted to share the first few months and events in our home in a brief recap before I break it all down into all the fun home build do's and don'ts.  Pictures seem peaceful and fun but what you are missing are the mass amounts of crews I had daily finishing up detail work and starting my seemingly never ending punch list.
*update | 5 months in and it's finally slowing down |
| above | Our great dance floor has a cozy companion.  I ordered rugs from rugsusa with screaming deals that couldn't be passed up.

One party is never enough so we threw another birthday bash for a number of teens for our daughters 14th birthday, it was my first shin-dig inside the home and I loved hosting it!  We played a few games, my babe shows off the pickled glasses from said games.. & the rest of the night went off without a hitch!

My bodacious 14 year old on the left.

Teens doing what teens do best.

Hot cider and donuts instead of cake.  | below | My kitchen backsplash a rustic drywall with calculations all over it..We waited 4 months for the tiles to arrive.

The party aftermath as we clean up the fun, chairs on the table and the music on high to celebrate the fun of youth.

Septemeber, October & November..  So awesome to host a slew of friends and family for Thansgiving and put all this good space to use.  We love our open floor plan and great use of natural light from all the western windows.

We used Western Windows for the major doors and windows in our home and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.  I saved a ton by not going with steel (kind of miss that..but not that much anymore) and I got the look I desired.

 Men setting up the theater.

We enjoyed the holidays immensely in our home.  I was just setting up the tree.. I enjoy this barren scape but I am ever eager to fill it with the right minimal touches.

I'm home!

A long a well desered hiatus from blogging, although I love to share and blog my thoughts away it was good not to have one more thing to turn to and do.  But I am eager to share "some kristine" and hopfully help someone on their design journey too..

I really need a day (or week or year) to journal all of my home building processes, my recommendations for those considering a home build or custom home build.  We are truly blessed and enjoying the friuts of our labors now but man-o-man if I could save another soul from my hiccups I will count that another success!

So I look forward to walking you through and sharing my road to our new home in the months to come!

Home Sweet Home.

It's the final countdown..

It is the final count down, and it feels unbelievably great to see an actual finish to this HOME.  Our home has been two years in the making, from selecting a builder, meeting with the architect and selecting the major finishes.  We fell in love with our lot, the land seemed to speak to us.  Have you ever had land speak to you?  It told me we belonged.  We are building roots & it feels great.  It will be even more amazing to make memories there.

I can see it now.

Here are some things to enjoy.

AK Woodworking and Design was our amazing local choice for our custom kitchen island with a brass inlay.

Our European White Oak floors and wool carpet for the bedrooms.

Master shower

Master vanity.

Master WC.

Stairs and wood floor install!

Steel trellis.

Kitchen faucet!!!  I can not wait to wash some dishes!!

name change

I changed my blog address!  If you're here, then you know.  I loved it when I had thought of founders classic, becasue I wanted it to be timeless and rooted in good things. Coincidently our children are attending a school that has a similar name and it kinda through me off my game with my blogs name, hence the "some kristine" change.

SO enjoy some kristine!

Please, if I can be of help in guiding your design decisions.. I'd love to help answer questions and share advice.  Leave a comment below.
