Deep thought

Deep in thought today while doing the daily grind I was thinking how amazing it is as we grow into new perspectives.  There are so many versions of perspective to see.  It's like glasses.. I was at a lecture a few years back and the person giving the lecture said that we each wear a new pair of glasses/ lenses given each new experience we live through, tragic or joyous.  Those glasses change the way we look at life and our behavior to how we act in life..  Our hearts may soften to others tradgies, we may humble ourselves to seek furthur enlightenment when we know ours is lacking, we find usefulness to new things or old things, and that's what I am getting at..  So today my thoughts turned to my new perspective on some things I have (this may be deeper than a mere pot but this is what I thought).  It was a old pot.  It's all-clad so its still in mean gleam cooking condition but usually I might think, oh its time for a new pot, its outdated style or fineese bores me kind of attitude.  I used to be so incapable of old things or things that were becoming old or damaged.  Through the eyes of others, the way they have lived and how they have chosen to savor or enjoy those things old or wherever they may come from made my eyes open.  I still love a new something or other and don't get me wrong I have always appreciated things from the past and value treasures of nostalgia but now I can appreciate my things and the life they have given me.  I appreciate.  I am grateful and I am blessed to own this discovery within me.

My baby had a little surgery yesterday.. SO sad to see her go through things that I cannot alleviate or control but I am grateful to be reminded that life is precious and beautiful when you are thankful for recognizing the good.

She is totally drugged right here.. kind of cute but still makes me tear up.  It made it an easier transition for her going into the operating room.

I love my little Vivian.

masters of our space

House woes & highlights.. Why does it seem to be a speed build and then come to the boring slow pace that makes me want to jump in and build myself a house.  It's picking up pace.. until the rain comes and then we wait a little more.. but I am still eager and excited!

I am impressed by the lessons I've learned and the empowerment I've gained while building a home.  It has taught me a great deal of patience (go figure) and also about the value a home is to us.  It means everthing to me to have "my own" space, to create memories, settle in and build strong traditions.  I can't quite explain it but some may know this feeling I feel, that I am not quite settled in a rental home or a space that hasn't been fully manipulated by the dwellers hands.. I thrive where my hands have had there handy work.  Here is where I want to teach my children the values I hold so dear.  In this space behind these walls we build, all kinds of wonderful will happen and for that I feel a great sense of fulfillment.  I want to carry on all the good that I learn and enrich the lives of my little Hammons for the better.  I am the master of my space.
Ah hah! Now there's a closer account of how I've been feeling..(I am enjoying our life where we are but in "my own" place, it will be the bees knees you see) & it feels good to let that sentiment out.  I can hardly wait! but I'll wait! Take your time and do it right mr. builder, we appreciate all your hard work & listening to me.

Here is some more of my designing process..

Hardwood Bargains got me some samples.. Kane carpets sent them all! Choosing theatre & game room..

For a small and sweet space..

Hardwood Bargains has been a dream so far to work with.. We were intialy only getting our wood floors from them but now they have ordered in the carpets we liked and have accomodated our need and likes with such finesse.  Ask for Kurt.  He is a knowledge genius when it comes to wood floors.

The beginnings of a fiberglass protective coating in the master shower.. I was giddy to see this guy.

Its all bright and cheery

Happy New Year!

It has been a beautiful years end and now moving onward and upward into the new year where there are always exciting things ahead..

That being said we will have a home this year!!!  Yow yow!!  When?  Well with the delay of the holidays we are still hopeful for the end of February but I am fixin' (Texas wearing off) to be patient as final and all other details are set into place.

Some side scoop.. we are in a betting match with a friend.. we get the privalage to take them to dinner if the home finishes in March or (fingers crossed) we get to feed our faces thanks to said friend if it finishes at scheduled or presumed February's end.  SO being a competive lady.. I certainly hope it finishes lickety-quick!  ha ha!  I hope I have a house, but I hope we get treated to dinner to boot.  I am no sore looser though and will happily bow down to said firend, when & if we loose.. Game on!!

Here is a peek in to our personal fun in December & a few updates on our house.. What a good month of holiday and cheer!

We took a jaunt with the sweetest friends anyone could ask for.. & galavated to New York City.  We are NY virgins, new to the fun everyone's been experiencing..  And oh what a good impression it left.  Minus one cab driver.. but we shouldn't get into that..
