Out on the farm.. my farm with windows

I had one request.. well I am a opinionated lady so there may have been a few more but windows was a first.  I think we have accomplished good things with windows in our build.  Our home will be filled with light!  I LOVE LIGHT.  I would rather cook and work in a dark room sometimes (all the times) than flick on the flouresant lady above.. so I am that modern cavewomen with her rays of sun peeking in for the rest of my days.  ..as soon as we move in..which I am ready to right now.. can hardly wait but still seems a dream to me.

Come see some windows.

As you step onto the stair case.

The children's study nook.

Up the stairs.

Backyard from left to right..playroom, kitchen, stairs..

Handsome Roanan walking into the living room.. window/door.

Frontal view.

From the playroom window..  We have roofline and i-beams!

The otherside of the room across from the study nook window.

Bedroom windows.

& the dreamy dream maker, handsome Roanan & Ebony.

Antique Week in ROUNDTOP, TEXAS

The time of year when girlfriends flock together, designers unite and vendors chime in with glee for their sales of good fortune.  We hit up Round Top, Texas for its biannual flea market festivous for the rest of us!!!  Always a day of pure emotional and retail therapy as we gab, shop and laugh the day away morn to night.

You have your array of garage sale & homemade treasures to the priceless finds from the 18th century..quite the gamat.  Old & new, creative and well, one man's trash is another man's treasure to put it best.

Dress for sunny rays beating down on you and dress for walking miles on end through the dusty fields of Warrenton and other nearby towns. Bring your rolling cart (yes we are seriously considering this) to haul your goods and stop for a bubbly beverage for rejuvenation.  It is a time of splendor.

I made it! sticking to a firm budget and scored three sweet deals.  A large clam shell for $200. A bulova clock for $35, and a little charm for my twelve year old daughter.. I need to consider goodies for the other two next time.  There is always something for everyone.

Freaking huge headboard of lovely linen

Yowza!  You are pricey pretty thing.
HUGE pillows I must one day have.

I should have taken a close up.. these are seed beads woven to make the chair fabric!  AMAZE.

My sweet friend Kristin scored her first rack.  Way to go babe!

Another set of horns.. I wish I bit the bullet and bought these but then I would have gone beyond budget..

homestead progress

It is exciting, pure joy! for me to see our home be framed!  You can really visualize the dream that has been stewing for so long.. It is facinating as well to learn the process.  I guess for the neighborhood standard is over engineered foundations.. which is great!  I am all about a firm foundation.  They place these huge oiled gazillion gauged wires through the foundation, later to come and pull them against each other at 30,000 pounds of strength for a more secure base (fine by me!).  Its alot to take in but its is truly an art for these contractors to pull off.  If you doodle it, they will build it.

Here is a look at the progress!

Cement Tile

I usually know what I want, and sometimes I have a hard time just like the rest of them.  I am looking for the right floor for the girls bathroom and the laundry room.  Why are these tiles teasing me?

Granda Tile makes a great array of handmade cement tile.  It is the Echo Collection that I am seeking options from.  It offers over 140 handmade cement tile designs in quite a variety of styles nad sizes that are great for your bath or kitchen floor.. & even then why just keep it on the floor?

Steve Giannetti's collaboration with Windsor Smith featured in Veranda Magazine is lovely.  What class and taste, it was the details that captured my eye.  I love the open shelving and vastness of this kitchen..  The two details that I want to incorporate in my own kitchen are the open shelving & the stainless steel toe kick on the island.  dreamy.

Gathered this beauty off of VELVET & LINEN blog.  Brooke and Steve Giannetti's home has been so carefully crafted and built.  So much so you'd never think it was a recent project.  Check them out.  It to is dreamy.  She calls it Patina Farm.
