this is the plan.. the herringbone plan

I am smitten by wood floors and this pattern is beautiful.  What a lovely look the herringbone pattern, especially in the bathroom.

Monochromatic you are lovely

(photos via pinterest)

What starts inspiration for me is my desire to decorate my home.  I have a serious love of monochromatic color schemes (with a secret desire to impound my life with splashes of color).  Ever since my (2year) visit in Southern Germany, I spent an after noon shopping in Oberamergau.  I found a boutique (if you will) that had treasures of old and new but what I was welcomed to as I entered the store is what has forever stuck with me.  I only wished I had had my camera to photograph this lasting impression.  It was black, black  leather tufted sofas against black walls with gold lamps and black shades all these different textures of black made this an amazing centerpiece to this beautiful shop I had discovered.  You had to look carefully to catch all that was hidden beneath her arrangements, this room was delicate and masculine all at the same time.  Tone on tone of black was an exquisite site.  So now I hunger for those same black walls.. but it has evolved into a softer shade of charcoal.  Here are some rooms that seem to grasp the fun I am imagining.

My home has twenty foot ceilings and off white drapes in a open space plan.  So to add a touch of pizzazz I think it can work!  I have been debating it too long..

"do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today!"

Thanks for visiting.

A new beginning

Here we go. So in essence I am beginning a new realm for myself.. I blog our personal life and now all I really want to do is document or better yet journal my design evolution because it has already begun. I have evolved already. As we speak I am evolving again! I see and learn more about design and the new concepts and I am morphed yet again to love and take hold of more design concepts.  Everything is a possibility.  I love modern, I adore the welcoming warmth of traditional and yet I am so yearning for the different and path least trodden.  Those paths are hard to come by.. but by golly as I have blog surfed, shopped online and perused magazines I am inspired yet again at the fresh looks of today and the even memorable looks from yesterdays.

Here's to the new horizon and founding "classics" from me to you!

love,
kristine

p.s. this is our bed, my husband and I made it of steel.. yes it is heavy but oh so sturdy.  And it was a fraction of the price of a store bought look a like!  Only $80! and some knuckle grease!
